Buddy Bears Campaign

For over twenty years the St. John’s Fire Fighters Association and the VOCM Cares Foundation have been partnering on the Buddy Bears campaign. Buddy Bears are teddy bears that are kept on board fire trucks of the St. John’s Regional Fire Department. Fire fighters working with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department use the bears when they encounter children who are involved in high stress situations such as: car accidents, structure fires, and the loss of life. The bears are given to children as a gift to help calm them, and lessen the impact of stressful and frightening events. The VOCM Cares Foundation is proud to be continuing their partnership with the St. John’s Fire Fighters Association with the support of the St. John’s Regional Fire Department on such a worthwhile campaign.

The VOCM Cares Foundation is a public foundation of Steele Communications. The Foundation is mandated to raise funds for charitable causes involving the health, education and safety of the community at large. Since its inception, the organization has grown to become the focal point for the VOCM radio network's community involvement.
