Daffodil Place Radiothon

Posted 12/11/2013 by Kelly Reid

Radiothon for Daffodil Place a huge success

The Canadian Cancer Society's Hope for Healing Radiothon was held today on all stations of the VOCM-CFCB-Big LandFM Radio Network. Donations were earmarked for Daffodil Place in St. John's. Since its opening in 2009 over 3,300 people from over 340 communities throughout the province have stayed there. And the dollars and donations came fast and furious throughout the event starting with VOCM Cares Executive Director, Kelly Reid.

Herb, who just lost his wife to cancer, stopped by to donate $1,300. Other community minded companies, including Muskrat Falls contractor Astaldi and Nalcor, donated $2,500 each. Some of the money raised in the radiothon will go towards Hope Air, a national non-profit group that provides free medical flights.

And when it was all said and done, the total amount of $175,000 was announced by Matthew Piercey, executive director of the Canadian Cancer Society for NL.
