VOCM Cares Board Member and Friend passes away

Posted 05/14/2013 by Kelly Reid

Gordon Seabright, a former provincial court judge, had been involved with Newfoundland Capital Corporation and its foundations for the past twenty years, as well as the Shriners and other organizations.

In the words of our Chairman, 'when you wanted a job done, you called Gord.'

Gordon Seabright, a former provincial court judge, has passed away. Seabright had been involved with Newfoundland Capital Corporation and its foundations for the past twenty years, as well as the Shriners and other organizations. Seabright also played a key role in bringing an end to the bitter 1986 NAPE strike against the provincial government. He served as a mediator in that dispute.

As a lawyer practising criminal law in his court regularly, I found Judge Seabright to be an honest, responsible and caring person who walked a straight line down the middle between arguments of the Prisevution and Defense treating all with the deepest respect.

If he is judged divinely as he judged those persons before his court. Gordon is headed to a much better place.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And may perpetual light sine on you, my friend!
